Growing Up With Jane

Acrylic on canvas. Maroon 5’s “Songs about Jane” was the album that defined my high school teenage years. It always reminded me of a glowing sunset that inspired both sweet love/joy and nostalgia. One of the songs’ lyrics says “the battle’s almost won. And we’re only several miles from the Sun”. It gave me so much hope especially during the stressful period of my life.

In the remix, I wanted to express the beauty and complexity of life and a woman who thrives in the uncertainty of the world. On a glowing sphere (the Sun), whatever path you take we always end up back where we are meant to be. To me, Jane was that woman living in a passionate and chaotic world (the red background), searching for her path while opening life’s mysteries on the way. She is full of creative force blooming lush green flowers along her footsteps.
